A letter from founder, Debbie Kroner:
My life’s journey has involved the personal heartache of losing my mother as I always knew her. I have travelled through grief and loss and can gratefully say my mother had her greatest advocate in me. I was present as her daughter and most of all as one of her Care Partner . She has given me an amazing gift that I have felt is my responsibility to share.
Realizing that empathy is not always enough when supporting people living with dementia I found a professional dementia consultant training program through Positive Approach to Care.
This international program is focused on honoring all people affected by dementia. Using an occupational therapy model and an empowering set of definitions I can help a person living with dementia and their family thrive and even appreciate each stage of their journey.
I have found there to be so much humanity, grace, and wisdom in a person living with dementia. I like to say that the black and white of life is replaced with a wonderful shade of gray. In that gray, I often find the person at their purest self. I have been struck by this truth over and over again as I work with people living with dementia. And I feel blessed every time I get a glimpse of a person’s purest self.
At Monarch Care Partners, our mission is to empower and support people living with Dementia, to teach the value of care partnering for caregivers of people living with Dementia, to help redefine how Dementia is viewed, and to teach family members how to thrive in the ever changing journey of Dementia.
I believe in family — biological or manifested. Through working with different families and my own I realize that everyone supporting someone living with dementia needs to nurturance on many levels.
I appreciate the familial roles that are hard wired in our society and have been trained to support families as those roles shift. I work to honor the sanctity of the person living with dementia and those who love her/him.
The last thing I want you to know about my purposeful work is that I believe in the power of love. Behind every action, educational opportunity, and decision done on behalf of your loved one know that my heart is always very present.
With care,
